Welcome to Kosalo. By accessing or using our website and mobile application, you agree to comply with the following Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our services.

1. About Kosalo

Kosalo provides digital tools designed to help table banking groups, chamas, and community organizations manage contributions, loans, and financial records. Kosalo does not act as a financial institution, lender, or investment advisor.

2. User Responsibilities

By using Kosalo, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Use the platform only for lawful purposes
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • Respect other users and group members
  • Grant only those device permissions (camera, gallery, notifications) that you are comfortable with, understanding their purpose as described in our Privacy Policy

Users are responsible for any activities that occur under their accounts.

3. Device Permissions and Feature Use

Certain features of the Kosalo mobile application require access to device functions:

Notifications
Kosalo requests notification permissions to keep all users informed of updates to their financial records. By enabling notifications, you consent to receiving alerts from Kosalo regarding your account and group activity. You may disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

AI Assistant – Camera and Gallery Access
The AI Assistant feature allows users to scan images of physical record books to automatically record contributions and loans. To use this feature, the app will request access to your camera and/or photo gallery. By using the AI Assistant, you confirm that any images you submit belong to your group’s records and that you have the authority to share them for processing. Kosalo is not responsible for inaccuracies resulting from unclear or unreadable images.

4. Group Financial Responsibility

Kosalo provides tools to record and manage group financial activity. However:

  • Kosalo does not hold group funds
  • Kosalo does not guarantee repayment of loans between members
  • Kosalo is not responsible for disputes between group members

All financial agreements remain the responsibility of the group and its members.

5. Availability of Services

Kosalo may update, modify, or temporarily suspend services to improve performance, security, or introduce new features such as updates to the AI Assistant. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

6. Acceptable Use

Users may not:

  • Use Kosalo for fraudulent or illegal activities
  • Attempt to access unauthorized data
  • Interfere with the security or operation of the platform
  • Misuse the platform to harm other users
  • Submit images via the AI Assistant that contain content unrelated to group financial records, or that violate any applicable laws

Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of accounts.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, design, and technology used in Kosalo — including the AI Assistant feature — are the property of Kosalo unless otherwise stated. Users may not copy, distribute, or reproduce any part of the platform without permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

Kosalo is provided as a digital management tool. Kosalo is not responsible for:

  • Financial losses within groups
  • Disputes between group members
  • Errors caused by incorrect data entered by users
  • Inaccuracies in AI-assisted record entries resulting from unclear, damaged, or illegible images
  • Any issues arising from a user denying or revoking device permissions

9. Changes to Terms

Kosalo may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of the platform after updates means users accept the revised terms.
